10 New Basses Added to LTD Line

LTD, a division of ESP Guitars, has introduced ten new basses to their line at the Winter NAMM show. All of the new bass models are updates that replace existing models in the LTD line, using innovative new manufacturing sources for improved quality and feature sets.

The wickedly-shaped LTD AX-414 is a neck-thru-body design at standard 34” scale. It offers a mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 24 XJ frets, black nickel hardware, Grover tuners, an ESP BB-604 bridge w/ string-thru-body, EMG 35DC (B&N) active pickups, and an EMG B64 3-band active EQ. New features include pearloid offset block inlays and white binding on the neck.

The LTD B-414SM, LTD B-415SM, and LTD B-416SM use swamp ash with exotic spalted maple tops for their bodies. Respectively 4-string, 5 string, and 6-string designs, the basses include EMG active pickups with 3-band active EQ, and black nickel hardware (including Grover tuners).

LTD’s EC and Viper basses also stepped up to new versions with the LTD EC-414FM and LTD VIPER-414FM. As the name implies, both basses have highly-figured flamed maple tops (only available on the see-through black cherry Viper-414) on mahagany bodies. Both basses also employ a five-piece maple/walnut neck with rosewood fingerboards. Hardware includes Grover tuners, and EMG 35DC (B) / 35CS (N) active pickups.

Joining the F-Series basses are the 4-string LTD F-414FM and the 5-string LTD F-415FM. Like the other basses in this group of new models, the new F-Series products provide high-end features such as a neck-through-body design, flamed maple tops, Grover tuners, active EMG pickups, active EMG 3-band EQ and more.

Finally, one of ESP’s most popular bass models also received a facelift for 2009. The LTD SURVEYOR-414 and LTD SURVEYOR-415, with 4- and 5-strings respectively, are both available in the choice of natural finish with maple fretboard, or 3-tone sunburst with rosewood fretboard for classic good looks. Both basses use bolt-on necks, swamp ash bodies, maple necks, 21 XJ frets, chrome hardware, Wilkinson licensed bridges, and EMG active pickups with 3-band EQ and a mini switch coil tap for the bridge pickup.
