ESP Artists Receive Grammy® Nominations
Once again, members of ESP’s artist family have been honored with Grammy nominations. The 2009 Grammy awards are based on recordings created during the eligibility period of October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008. The 51st Annual Grammy Awards are set to take place on February 8, 2009, broadcast on CBS from the Staples Center in downtown LA. “We’re very happy for the ESP artists who received the honor of a Grammy nomination,” says Allen Steelgrave, director of marketing and artist relations for ESP. “This isn’t just an award given for album sales or popularity. It’s a recognition of the quality that went into the songwriting, the performance, and the production of the music. We’re proud that our guitars and basses helped these artists do their best work.” Three ESP players from two different bands received nominations in the “Best Metal Performance” category. This award is for solo, duo, group or collaborative performances, with vocals, and is awarded for singles. From their latest album Death Magnetic (Warner Bros.), Metallica is nominated for the song “My Apocalypse”. As you know, both James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica have been long-time ESP endorsees, and you’ll hear the sound of their ESP models all over the Death Magnetic album. Also in the “Best Metal Performance” category, we give our kudos to bassist Fred Leclercq of DragonForce, who were nominated for their anthemic rocker “Heroes Of Our Time”. Metallica gets another Grammy nod in the “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” category, which is similar to the former metal category but is for songs with no vocals. Again from Death Magnetic, the completely epic tune “Suicide & Redemption” receives yet more honors for a band who truly deserves them. And, though it has little to do with guitars, Metallica gets yet another chance at a 2009 Grammy for their nomination in the “Best Recording Package” category. |
