Former SOiL guitarist (and continual ESP supporter) Shaun Glass has had a new band for the past couple of years. If youʼve been stranded on a desert island without a radio, perhaps youʼre unaware of Dirge Within. They were founded in spring 2007 by Shaun, along with Jimmy Knight (drums), Jerms Genske (vocals), Brian Paz (bass), and Matt Szlachta (guitar). The band quickly threw down a three-song demo which was mixed and mastered by James Murphy (Testament/Death) at Safehouse Productions.
The band started touring later that year, and quickly gained the respect of the metal community. They continued recording new tracks in 2008, enlisting the help of producer Edsel Dope (Dope) on the new material. Dirge Within then turned their attention to touring, and over the last year have been out on the road alongside bands like God Forbid, All That Remains, Devil Driver, Nile, Death Angel and Prong. They also played on the Jägermeister Music Tour with Hatebreed, Type O Negative, and 3 Inches of Blood. After signing with E1 Entertainment in May 2009, Dirge Within toured with Static-X, Bury Your Dead, and Seventh Void.
This month, their debut album “Force Fed Lies” was released, and the band is out on the road once again (this time with Trivium and Chimaira) in support of the new record.
