iGuitar Magazine Reviews the LTD EC-1000 Koa
It's always a good day at ESP when we receive a positive review for one of our instruments from a respected magazine. Today's happy news came from iGuitar, also known as Guitar Interactive, an online magazine based in the UK but serving the whole world with excellent information on everything having to do with guitars. Guitar Interactive has just released their review of the LTD Deluxe EC-1000 Koa, a new model introduced in mid-2015 and now available through your ESP Dealer.
The review has a very thorough video portion that you can watch on their site. However, this segment of the review should give you the gist of it.
"When we plugged the LTD in, we were treated to soaring thick Gary Moore-esque tones thanks to the great Seymour Duncan SH-2 and SH-14 pickups - the SH-14 living in the bridge and the SH-2 in the neck. The neck pickup gives a warm sustain, and the bridge delivers some truly heavy tones. These pickups are controlled by a three way toggle switch and separate volume controls and a tone. This is helpful for live work if you wish to literally ‘switch’ between two sounds, for example heavy rhythm on the bridge and a rolled back clean on the neck. Talking of clean tones and neck pickups, when I dialed a clean tone on the amp and selected the neck pickup with the tone rolled slightly back I felt like I was able to create tones similar to that of the amazing Paul Jackson Jr of Michael Jackson/Daft Punk fame. This guitar has a lot of identities behind its sleek gloss koa wood finish and you could also go back into political Rock territory by using the toggle switch and separate volume controls in conjunction to create a ‘kill switch’ a la Rage Against the Machine. This is by no means just a Rock screamer, for all that it does that job supremely well!"
