ENGL Amp Spotlight: Ironball Combo
ENGL Amp Spotlight: Ironball Combo
Let's blow up some popular myths about guitar amps. One is that you need super high wattage for live shows and studio recording. Nope! Many of the biggest tones you ever heard were created from relatively small-wattage amps. Another is that individual heads and cabinets are always superior to combo amps. Wrong again! Some of the very best tones in history for metal, rock, pop, and other music genres were created using tube-based combo amps.
With the ENGL Ironball Combo E600, you get some huge advantages over much bigger amps. It's a 20 watt, all-tube head that made with painstaking detail in Germany. The amp is designed to fulfill the needs from players of all styles of music who demand sonic versatility and useful features in a handy, small-sized format that you can easily transport into clubs and studios. But most importantly, the Ironball delivers warm and rich clean sounds, along with amazing organic crunch sounds. The rhythm tones are chunky, and the leads are fat and juicy, emanating with surprising force with its 12" Celestion Vintage 30 speaker... something you might not expect from an amp this size.
Preamp:
• 2 Channels sharing one EQ (Bass, Middle, Treble) plus Presence, Gain Boost & Gain Control for each channel, extra Volume Control for the Rhythm/Lead Channel, Reverb, 4 x ECC83
Master Section:
• 20 Watts (2x EL84 power amp tubes), Power Soak (20W, 5W, 1W, Speaker Off), Master Volume Control & Master Volume Boost (MVB) with fixed setting for a second Master Volume
• Outputs: Headphone Out, Speaker Out (8 Ohm, 16 Ohm), Frequency Compensated Out, Serial FX Loop (Send & Return)
• Compatible Footswitch: Z-3, Z-4

The Celestion Vintage 30 is a 12" speaker that sounds just as great delivering warm clean tones as it does super crunchy, creamy rhythm and lead tones.
