        Some like abalone and some don't.  But removing it from the EC 1000 models, especially the Ebony and See Thru Quilt Cherry Red look naked to me without it.  They removed the fretboard edge abalone on the Antique Amber EC 1000 in 2021, of which I have a Mint one, and it looks much better with it on the FB.  IMHO
