Son Jun-ho, released from China, will first play in the K5 League

The Football Association officially acknowledged, “There is no problem” and will likely return to the professional stage after recovering performance.

Son Jun-ho (32, photo), a member of the Korean national soccer team, returned to Korea after being detained by Chinese police and released after 10 months, and returns to the field through the amateur stage.

On the 22nd, Son Jun-ho officially registered as a player for the amateur league K5 team ‘Yongsan Geonyung FC’. It has been 28 days since he returned to Korea on the 25th of last month. The Korea Football Association also accepted Son Jun-ho's registration in the K5 League. This means that it has been officially acknowledged that there are no problems with Son Jun-ho playing as a player in the domestic league.

In May of last year, while playing for the Chinese professional soccer team Shandong Taishan, Son Jun-ho was arrested and investigated on charges of bribery of non-state agents. It has not been confirmed whether Son Jun-ho, who has strongly denied the related charges, has been cleared of the charges by the Chinese government. According to the Korea Football Association regulations, anyone who has been sentenced to imprisonment or heavier punishment and is serving the sentence or is on probation cannot register as a player. After reviewing the international transfer agreement issued by the Chinese Football Association, the Korea Football Association decided that there would be no problem in registering Son Jun-ho as a player.

Since last week, Son Jun-ho has been getting in shape through personal training in Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk, where the training ground of Jeonbuk, a K-League 1 team in Korea's professional soccer league, is located. Jeonbuk is the team that Son Jun-ho played for before leaving for the Chinese league. It is said that Son Jun-ho managed his physical strength and maintained his usual weight of 73 kg even while he was detained in China.

Son Jun-ho is expected to gradually improve his performance in the amateur league and then push for a return to the K-League, his professional stage. The K League will begin accepting additional player registrations starting June 20th. It is known that multiple clubs, including Jeonbuk, are showing interest in recruiting Son Jun-ho. There are clubs overseas that have expressed interest, but Son Jun-ho reportedly wants to play domestically for the time being for his psychological stability. 토토
