One of the best detailed crafted guitars I’ve owned!
Hello ESP. I just ordered this guitar through Sweetwater, but they don’t have it in stock. What is the approximate lead time on getting this guitar? Thank you.
-George
I’m a big ebony fretboard fan and when I was shopping for this model I figured all colors would be equipped with ebony. And after I put in my order at AMS (highly recommend them) I was disappointed I didn’t look closer before completing my order. I was even considering returning it and getting the e-II horizon which does come with ebony. But when it was delivered and it had a ebony board I was super jazzed. It’s an amazing instrument and I couldn’t be happier. So impressed I also ordered a e-II horizon see thru black. Also a amazing guitar.
Hi, Glad to hear you like your new instrument!

Hello. The stats stating an ebony fretboard but the pic indicates a rosewood fretboard (I assume). What of it is fact?
Hello, we are in fact using ebony for this model. The picture is old and will be updated as soon as we are able.

I already sent customer service a question/comments, but I thought I would leave one here for feedback. The guitars I have seen available online look very different in terms of pattern and matching than the one shown in the photo. Although I live in one of the largest cities in the US, I have not been able to find many Eclipses in store...and none of this particular model. Unless you care nothing about the pattern, seems more reasonable to show a picture of one that more closely represents the one you will receive. Case in point attached.

thanks for sharing with us!
In the old days they used veneers, basically a sheet of paper over a regular maple top, to get around that problem. Honestly I prefer it this way. Although I think the price is still very high for a top like that, considering what other companies are offering these days.
Received today and I must say after a quick tune it played like a gem. Played for about 45 minutes and it felt great. Definitely recommend.
thanks for your recommendation!
Hello. Are the E-II Eclipses set with stainless steel frets?

Just ordered mine. Will have it soon. Very excited,it will be my 2nd ESP.
Hope you enjoy it!
Tracking my shipment/guitar. Black Cherry Eclipse arrives tomorrow. May have to leave work early!
Arrived yesterday. Beautiful guitar.
This Guitar was bought for me by my Girlfriend, haha I genuinely couldn't believe it,I literally just bought myself the EC-LTD-1000 Natural Burst which is just stunning and found myself just surfing Guitars on the Internet and spotted my dream Guitar, the E-II Eclipse,Black Cherry and the Girlfriend said out of the blue,"Because it is a benchmark birthday coming up she would buy me this Guitar, now normally going if I just bought a Guitar she would normally say,"for god's sake you already have Guitars, why do you need another one" So I'm thinking I must have played a blistering solo and shredded myself into a different reality where my girlfriend is nice and likes Guitars?
But yeah the E-II is most definitely on another level to any other Guitar I have ever owned
If you are thinking about buying one and aren't sure, just do it,out the box this Guitar was ready to go and feels amazing and so comfortable, didn't feel like a new Guitar in the sense that with new it takes a while to get used to holding it a certain way etc it just fitted like a glove
Just a stunning and Beautiful Guitar
Glad you enjoy it and thanks for sharing
Bought one of these about a month ago, I'm loving it. Perhaps my favorite guitar purchase ever. The tone is great, and coming from an Epiphone Les Paul...this thing is SOO much lighter and more comfortable.
Only minor gripe is that when the guitar arrived it had a fair amount of action on the low E string, so had to make some adjustment there
Glad you're enjoying it, instruments can require a setup after shipping or even during different times in the year, be sure to keep up with its' maintenance to ensure it is playing at it's best
This beautiful finish should be available on the 7-string. (please?
)
thanks for the insight
I recently purchased one of these and noticed that the bridge and tailpiece weren't seated flush with the body, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if theirs was the same?
Hi Justin, The bridge and tailpiece can be adjusted up and down depending on your preference. If you are referring to the studs and inserts, they will usually have some portion sitting higher than the body because the top of the body is arch shaped and not flat.
Make sense now, thank you
What is the difference between BB or DB?
Bold Binding - Double Bound, hope this helps
Is it possible that these specifications are changed since I bought this guistar with an ebony fingerboard, see the page of my supplier Thomann in Germany (sorry, I am not allowed to put a link yet)
And yes it does look more cooler than the rosewood
.
Hey Edwin, not that I am aware of, these have always had rosewood fingerboards. Might have been an exclusive for that specific dealer.
Hey Carl, here you can see it for your self compared to the snow white model. Maybe the European version is different?
Hey Edwin, this might have been an exclusive for that dealer, no record of a build with Ebony coming in through our warehouse so you might want to check with the dealer you purchased it from to see if this was a limited run for their shops.
Can you guys please stop using paint shielding on all of the cavities? It seriously decimates all the high end clarity. I've had to remove everything in order for any pickups in this thing to sound playable.
Also, the solderless wiring system needs to be wired up properly. Make sure that the cable coming from the pickup goes to either of the outside pairs of lugs for the wiper of the volume pots. The middle set is for output only. I know that EMG's instructions says to do this, but it is wrong. Even Rob Turner from EMG explains how the pots work with outside set of connectors.
Hey Mason, sorry to hear of the issues you have had with this, shielding paint helps to create a Faraday cage within your instrument to help lessen signal interference. If you need further assistance with this please reach out to our customer service department at customerservice@espguitars.com
As for the wiring of this instrument, our customer service team can provide a wiring diagram if you feel this has been wiring improperly but I should note that there are many different ways to wire an instrument. The middle terminal of a potentiometer will actually go to the wiper and the two outside terminals will go to the resistance element on which the wiper makes contact. Typically our Eclipse instruments with EMGs will have the selector switch wired to the center terminal(wiper) and the output of the pickup will go to the non-grounded terminal on the pot. Hope this helps!
Is it possible to buy this guitar with different pickups (SH-6) and lower frets (definitely NOT XJ)? How thick is the body?
Hi Jan, Sorry it is not possible at this time to order with different specs than we offer. They are built to the specs you see on our site. The total body thickness is 50mm. For your reference, a standard guitar body thickness is 45mm, and the "FULL THICKNESS" version of an ECLIPSE is 60mm.
Thank you. Ordered from Thomann, we'll see what it's worth
Hi Jan, Ok. hope it goes well and you like the instrument.
Yup, Ebony, looks better and shows up the strings for those with wobbly eyesight - happens to us all eventually.
I tacked this onto a previous comment, but I can't help but feel as though an ebony fret board would suit this guitar better. The darker color works with the finish a lot better than the paler rosewood to my eyes. I also find ebony to be generally smoother which provides a nicer playing experience.
Hi Dominic, thanks for your suggestion. That would look nice with ebony.
Honestly, if this model gets update to have an ebony board for 2020 or, by some miracle, later this year, it would definitely be my first E-II purchase.
Hey Dominic, We hear you. thanks for your suggestion.
