I bought this pretty much planning to immediately drop a JB in it, but I played it through some patches, it sounded great, and years later have never touched the pickup. So if you subscribe to 81's being hit-miss from one guitar to the next, imo it works great in this one. I have had them sound good before this guitar and had them sound not-so-god in others. Rest of it pretty much reminds me of the LTD MH1000NT I had once upon a time that was one of those lifetime-guitars that put me on ESP (for life) in the first place. I had been on US Gibsons and that LTD was so much better all I could really do is laugh at Gibson and move on with the new data. Now I try to stick with ESP Japan or anything that comes out of WMI.
I think the ESP marketing team should be paying a bit more attention in this M-I variant choice. I have been waiting for years to see M-I with Floydrose and some other finish like gloss.
Satin and strings thru body was the only choice we have !?!?
After getting my BW1 LTD a few years ago, I knew I had to get an ESP. This thing does not disappoint, it feels, looks, and sounds amazing. Perfect for metal/hardcore from standard to B. Love it so much that I'll probably get another type of E-II guitar after this one, especially if there are more baritone options in the future.
Powerfull, fast to play, simple no frills, I´m lovin ´it.
For the love of god… ESP what are you doing? Why would you post a picture of one of your artists profile (Nick Stewart - Power Trip ) holding an ESP that none of us can have. In his profile picture he is holding this guitar but in a killer offset cream like a Randy Rhoads cream. It’s unreal. Sleepless nights hoping that each year you’ll introduce this colour for the EII MI so that we can all have a piece of the pie. Please, please consider this colour for next years run
One of my favorites and I own guitars worth 4 times as much.
Definitely think that this is on Daddy's Christmas list this year. Buy NOW. Or I could also invest in that lead generation training I have been looking at...

This is my 3rd Eii series this year and the quality is horrible! The black finger syndrome is real! Seriously, don’t know how far I’ll have to go to alleviate getting my fingers covered in black stain. I’m probably going to take this one to a luthier to help, as I’m keeping this one because I bought it cheap. Unfortunately, ESP does not own this problem and provide a fix other than Dunlop 65. Disappointed!
Damn, it's 2024 and I have the same problem with a newer model (E2 M1 Snow White). I thought I was the only one. Still, I love my guitar.
I can see a USA M-1 in my immediate future.

Do no hesitate. Preorder this or get a used one if you can't wait. I couldn't, and I'm glad that I didn't
Awesome fit, finish, feel. THIS is how a guitar is supposed to feel.
Arigatou gozaimasu.
Hi, thanks for your comments. Glad to hear you like this model.
Got a great deal on one local here.
Are the fret dots abalone?
Can't wait to get this!
Hi, yes the dots are abalone on this model. Good luck!
Nice, nice guitar. Neck is perfect, nut is perfect. Mating it with a Roland GK-3 and a Boss SY 1000. Plenty of space for the GK-3 pickup, which is positioned between the bridge and the bridge pickup, unlike 95% of the guitars out there.
glad you are enjoying it, thanks for sharing!
Just picked mine up guys and I'm over the moon with it. Wouldn't change a thing. You nailed it with this one!!!!Thanks.
glad you're enjoying it and thanks for letting us know!
We ever going to see these for lefties? I'd buy this exactly as it is, or without fretboard inlays. Throw in a hipshot, it's all over

Man I want to see this guitar in every color and wood combo! Love single humbucker, neck through and string though!!!
I have one of these in lefty. Mine is from just before the name change to “E-II”.....it says ESP on the headstock. Real nice guitar. Funny thing is, it’s not black. It’s a factory finish, but not black. I don’t know how to describe it. It’s not metallic, nor is it metal flake....but it kinda has a slight glint of shiny metal color in the satin gray finish. It’s from the European market. I’ve searched as best I can and can’t find this color listed by a name anywhere. These guitars in lefty are always listed as a flat/satin/matte black.
It’s a legit ESP, in pretty good shape too. Plays awesome. It came in the older style HSC that has the egg crate foam on the lid. Always wondered what the finish was officially called. Gunmetal Gray? It’s also a natural satin finish on the back of the neck, taped off the way ESP does it.....not a “mod”....it was made that way. I can’t remember the year off the top of my head, I think it’s an ‘09? I got like 22 guitars and it’s currently in the back so I ain’t digging for it. But, I think it’s something like a 2009 or maybe an ‘08.

@soullessghost, can I buy it from you? I'm a lefty I've been trying to find one for a long time. Find me on facebook - Conor Mitchell, I am wearing a green and white hockey jersey. From West Hartford, CT
Hi esp, what is the neck angle on this guitar? I know bolt on necks are usually 0 and gibsons with a tunomatic are 4°. Trying to get a feel of how this would play. Thanks!
This will be similar in degree to that of other instruments with tune-o-matic bridges as neck angle is determined by the bridge used not neck construction.
Thanks for the info Carl. Rock on brother
Is there somewhere I can order a direct replacement truss rod cover specifically for this guitar? I don't have the original one and I've ordered two different replacement ones online that say they are meant for ESP/LTD guitars, but they're both a little too short so there's a gap between the bottom of the cover and the nut.
Currently we do not sell parts, might be easiest to have one made for your specific instrument as these can vary slightly from one instrument to the other. A guitar tech in your area should be able to fashion one for you.
Please ESP, move the volume knob away from the pickup, this is the only reason I dont buy ESP super strats. My hand keeps banging the knob all the time, it is really annoying. And FYI, the only guitar brand I use is ESP, and I really need one of your super strats.
I keep dreaming with a mahogany body E-II, and volume knob away from pickup, it is not too much to ask!
Thanks for your insight David!
i have to agree with David S....i own the M-Black Metal model and i had to remove the volume knob.
Absolutely no! In my opinion it is perfect where it is now!
If you put a rubber o-ring under the knob, it can help by increasing the resistance it takes to turn the knob. I had to do this on a couple of my LTD guitars due to the location. On one hand, it's nice that you can easily adjust volume mid riff if you need to, but it does suck to keep hitting it by mistake.
Nice tip Nathan!
