Hello. In the back there is the external steel battery compartment or are the batteries under the black plastic to be unscrewed?
Hey Richard, these will have the ashtray style battery compartment on the back.
mah..in some sites you see that there is, in others not ...
Hey Richard, you might be seeing a version with passive pickups. EMGs require a battery, hence the battery compartment. Passive pickups do not need a power source so no battery/compartment are needed.
My E-II M1 doesn't have a battery compartment for the 81 in the bridge. I am assuming that with only the volume pot in the standard cavity size that it was easier to have the battery go there? my M1 is from 2015, so this may have been different in earlier or later models.
Hey Ap, some M-I instruments did not have the compartment on the back. If you want to send some images of your E-II to our customer service department they should be able to assist you with determining the specifics about your instrument. They can be reached at customerservice@espguitars.com
I bought it and it's beautiful! sounds great and is a killer !! and has an ashtray type battery compartment.
Thanks for your insight Richard, hope you enjoy it!
Hi,
I've got two ESP yet, and i'm looking for the next one, but... What model of Gotoh TOM is mounting this guitar?
Thanks in advance for the answer (...and also for the masterpiece you make!)
Simone
HI Simone, we use the standard Gotoh TOM with the large mounting posts. GE-103B-T.
The M1 is what Jeff Ling of Parkway Drive used for years, but now both he and Luke Kilpatrick have 2 - pickup signature M-style models. When/why did Jeff change to 2 pickups? The M-version of the Black Metal line resembles the M1 a lot. The M1 is super sleek looking, as well as simplistic. Beautiful machine. It's my 2nd favorite ESP/E-II design, just behind the VB Eclipse.
The ESP Edwards Knight series is my favorite of the ESP Edwards line. I have an E-KT-135 in Dark Cherry Sunburst, but now the next one I want is the E-KT-145. It looks a lot like my Eclipse, but it's a double cut. One of the sharpest looking axes I've ever seen. Edwards makes an MR-line, but they're 7-8 string models.
The final goal is to have an ESP-Navigator. Either an SG or Tele or Jaguar. That is the plan...one can dream can't one?
Is this guitar available with passive pickup options?
Hi Riley, Not is is not currently available with passive pickups.
Hey Guys,
I own this guitar and can't stop playing it. Now I'm looking at a two pickup with a Floyd Rose and Neck Thru. Does the horizon series E2 have the same size neck? Or is the Horizon a bit larger? Thanks!
Hi Joshua, Yes the Horizon has the same size of neck. The only difference may be the finish on the back. Your M-1 has a natural satin finish and I believe the Horizon will have a gloss paint on the back of neck. Glad you like yours!
Hi guys, I am about to buy this guitar but there is something that bothers me. On the back there is a sticker saying made in japan. Why 'made in japan' logo is a sticker that will fall off? Why it is not imprinted under the finish? Also by made in japan what is ment, is it that the guitars are built in ESP Japan factory from raw wood to last set up or is it that bodies are rough cut in another country (china/korea) and only fitting and finishing is done in Japan. Sorry for asking this but there is a lot of debates going on about this on internet, so I wanted to learn the truth. Thank you
Hello huseyin,
All E-II instruments are made by ESP’s own factory in Japan, and as with almost all guitar manufacturing some materials used in production are outsourced to other parts of the world. Regarding the sticker, it is the way our factory has attached the country of origin for many years but I see your point and we will take note of your suggestion. Thanks for your comments.
I agree about laminating the "Made in Japan" sticker. In the old days "Made in Japan" was a slight (1960's & '70's), but now "Made in Japan" truly represents quality, and that's coming from a proud American/Texan. I bought a used 2007 ESP Eclipse II (still says ESP on front headstock instead off E-II), but the MIJ sticker had been removed...I bought it anyway. I also have a Japanese ESP Edwards Knight model (E-KT-135C) which also doesn't say Made in Japan on it anywhere. Fender MIJ/CIJ, as well as Gibson Orville line from the 1990's are fetching good $ today, along with Burney, Tokai, Greco, Fernandes, Yamaha that are still made in Japan.
I love the ESP-Edwards line, and want to purchase an ESP Navigator someday (top of the ESP line in the Japan market). I've heard the Edwards lines have the bodies cut and first coat of paint done in China (under ESP quality control), then the rest of the assembly and testing is in Japan. Korea, Indonesia, Viet Nam, and even China have made great strides toward quality, but I'll always prefer Japanese and USA the most. ESP also has another branch in addition to US, Custom, Navigator, Edwards, E-II, and LTD, called "Grassroots", which are below the quality of LTD 1000 series.
This is probably a stupid question, but can we purchase ESP "Made in Japan" stickers, with the same font/size as the ones from the ESP factory in Japan?
Thanks
Hi CentralTX, Thanks for your comments. We'll pass them along to the factory. Sorry but we do not sell the Made in Japan stickers. A lot of the older ESP's may have had the stickers removed at some point. But you can rest assured that all ESP's are produced in Japan so the country of Origin should never be a question.
I’d buy this one now if it had the extra ultra thin neck ,,, I love that neck.
Hi Kenny, thanks for your suggestion.
hey Kenny...I own a Standard Series M-1 and I just bought a Black Metal LTD.......GREAT fast Ultra Thin neck and a badass Seymour Duncan Black Winter pickup.....has a Floyd though but it is a badass machine....simple and fast like the M-1......
Thanks Michael!
Emg 57 opt. Couple more color opt has well. Flat white , flat grey ?
Hi Ken, thanks for your suggestions.
I def would of got this guitar if it had the ultra thin neck.Drop D Axe
Perfection ! Some "colors" versions to come? Like purple or red sparkle ?
Hi Quentin, Thanks for your suggestion to add more colors. Currently we only offer this one color.
I would love to see this guitar with the passive SD Black Winter pickup. An high end version of the LTD Black Metal M series
Hi Rafal, Thanks for your suggestion.
I was thinking about non reverse M headstock. Now imagine this guitar with Swamp Ash body, ebony fret board , regular headstock and Seymour Custom 5 pickup. Than plug it into Laney AOR 100MV with Bogner Ubershall and DOD FX-10 in the chain....OMG
HI Dariusz, Thanks for getting back to me with those details. Sounds like a cool guitar!
...and would be great to consider regular headstock on metal models. Not everybody love reverse headstock , and at some point I'm already tired with reverse style. Had 'em to many. I miss regular old style ESP headstock.
Hi Dariusz, Thanks for your suggestion. What headstock are you referrring to as regular headstock? Are you talking about just a right handed, non reverse M headstock, or something like our traditional or Vintage head?
Please please please make this in white next year!!!!
Id also take that sweet violet pearl color, oasis greeen, or just plain natural(darker stain on the neck lighter stain on the wings to make the neck thru pop). There is just so many black guitars a guy can own.
Hi Jonathan, Thanks for those suggestions.
I would buy this in a heartbeat if it had a Hipshot bridge instead of a TOM bridge. Other than that it's pretty much perfect.
