GH-200
GH-200
BLACK
The LTD GH-200 represents the most affordable model in the Gary Holt Signature Series, but it packs a mean punch. It includes bolt-on construction, with a comfortable basswood body and a thin U-shaped maple neck, with a roasted jatoba fingerboard that gives you Gary's split rectangle inlay design and 22 extra-jumbo frets. The GH-200 also offers an ESP LH-301 pickup set with red covers, a Floyd Rose Special bridge for your most outrageous leads, and red binding on the body and headstock to complete its menacing vibe. Available in Black finish.
So I recently purchased a used GH-200. The guitar was pretty amazing before I modified it. The stock pickups are high output. Close to a Dimarzio or Seymour Duncan Distortion set or an EMG 81 set. The tremolo is pretty good as well. Tuners are ok too. So I swapped out the pickups with a Dimarzio Super 3 Distortion in the bridge and a PAF Pro in the neck. And yes I purchased the red pickups from Dimarzio. They are darker than the stock pickups and look a lot better. I decked the tremolo (dive bomb only vibrato) and replaced all the saddle and locking nut screws with stainless steel. I also replace the saddle blocks with titanium blocks. I placed the pots with CTS and replaced the 3 way switch with a Switch Craft switch. I also replaced the tuners with Gotoh style tuners from GFS. The GFS tuners have a better, smoother feel. I replaced the neck plate with bushings to give the guitar more of a set neck feel. All this didn't need to be done but I like a certain tone, feel and look from my guitars. The GH-200 is an amazing guitar in the stock form and a really awesome guitar modified. So far I have owned five LTD guitars and all of them have been pretty awesome. I currently own a 2013 EC256, 2017 EC1000FM ASB, 2020 EC1000QM see through cherry black and a 2021 GH-200. My first experience with LTD was in 1998 when I bought the M2. I had issues with the neck and ESP/ LTD warrantied it with no problem. I had already modified the guitar with EMG pickups and they sent the guitar back with just a new neck. That was nice of them to leave the body alone. After that I had no issues and the guitar played, sounded and felt great. I wish I would have not sold it 15 years later but hind site is 20/20.
