    With its unique coloration and grain pattern highlights, spalted maple is a great look for a bass that stands out from the crowd. The B-205SM is an affordable yet high quality 5-string bass that offers an ash body with a spalted maple top in Natural Satin finish, along with a thin U-shaped 5-piece maple/jatoba neck for excellent playing feel. You also get passive ESP Designed SB-5 pickups, along with an active ABQ-3 3-band EQ, and good-looking black nickel hardware. Also available  in Natural Satin finish.

    My wife bought me a B205 in see thru black satin from Guitar Center for my birthday 3 years ago. I had been without a bass for about 13 years. I immediately fell in love. It has a very warm tone but it's not muddy. The pre-amp allows you to obtain a bright tone and even tweak it for a crunchy tone as well. It's a great all-around bass for funk, metal, jazz, and pop. I switched out the D'Addarios for a set of GHS Bass Boomers which were my go-to strings on my last bass. I got an even deeper chest-vibrating sound with them... even better than the 5 string Dean that I had before.

    This is a great bass for the buck, and I couldn't be happier!

      I purchased a new B-205 at my local Sam Ash store last week and could not be happier with my choice. I'm impressed by LTD's QC, this bass is flawless. Fretwork is fantastic, electronics and controls are on-time, body isn't too big, no neck dive or anything else that sucks. Happy camper here folks.

        Its a beautifully made bass - I've had mine a year and a half now - really dense body, holds the low end really well, I lowered the action once and never needed to touch the neck again. Really happy with my B205!

              Just got this for Christmas.  How do I make adjustments?  The manual link you recommended below only has one page (not even the whole page) about bass guitars, and is not really helpful.  :(  I’ve never owned a 5-string bass before.  The strings are so close to the neck they rattle like crazy.  Especially the lowest string.  Should it be rattling and buzzing?  This is very annoying, and probably a deal-breaker.  Also the neck seems too flexible... When I pull back on it, even slightly, the strings stop playing altogether because they are touching.  This is so strange.  I’ve been playing a 4-string Fender P-Bass for 7 years, and have never had these issues, ever.  Do you have any instructional videos?   Really hope the rattling isn’t the way it’s supposed to be.  Please let me know ASAP.  Thanks.
