Thx a lot guys!
Allparts? Is that a store?
https://www.allparts.com/
Thx Nathan, ya the blackouts have all the extras, I was looking for the actual knobs , do u know the thickness of the pickup rings? The ones I have are 2 different thicknesses and the pickups r really loose , they rock back and forth, this is my first overhaul, just looking for tips , thx a lot
Personally, I buy things like that from EMG directly because I know and trust the brand. allparts.com is also fairly reputable. For ring size, it's best to measure. Most of the time, bridge pickups with a Floyd Rose are 'f-spaced' which can make them a little wider. They should still usually fit in a normal sized ring. https://www.emgpickups.com/parts/mounting-rings.html they list all the dimensions and should make it easy to find what you need. They also sell knobs
just to clarify, I put in Seymour Duncan ahb-1 blackout active pickups and I am looking for new pickup rings , volume and tone knobs and a 3-way switch, thx
To my knowledge, ESP doesn't sell replacement parts, but they use pretty standard equipment. A standard 'flat' pickup ring should fit. For the electronics, your Blackouts just use any standard 25k pots for volume/tone (which they should have come with?) and the 3 way switches are all pretty standard. If your Blackouts use solderless clips, you should be able to use a solderless kit from EMG making the install crazy easy.
Blake, Allparts would be your best source for these parts.
I have this model ,but with a neck through body , and I’m trying to overhaul it , but I’m having trouble finding parts , how do I find them on your site?
Blake, currently we do not sell parts, though there are plenty of aftermarket parts suppliers out there. Allparts, StewMac, Warmoth, just to name a few.
Hello Todd,
I've had this model for a few years now and am looking to make some changes to this, rather than buy a new one, since I love the neck. I'd like to replace the bridge with a simple tremelo (strat) bridge, remove the locks at the nut, and install some Duncan's. I already saw the comments on the pickups and have a clear idea about that. Could you please guide me with the bridge change?
Hey Pulok, this instrument was designed to be used with a Floyd Rose bridge and installing another bridge would be quite the task. If you are unsure how to complete this procedure yourself it would be recommended to have a professional guitar technician handle such a modification for you. Unfortunately we're unable to guide you through this process.
Hi Todd,
What is the reference for replacing locking nut (for neck).
The bolt thread has worn out, i thought it was universal, but seems there are quite variants (refer to floyd rose table).
For the M100 series. Thanks
Its OK, i managed to get some local nuts.
And thanks for the ESP youtube tech clip...it really helps
Hi Shahril, Sorry that I did not reply to you earlier and glad to hear you solved the issue. If you ever need technical assistance please contact our customer service team at customerservice@espguitars.com
Hi there, i planned to install EMG 81, and combine it with current neck PU on my M100FM.
Where can i find the wiring instructions for this? Thanks
Hi Shahril, It is not recommended to combine active and passive pickups. It can be done but both pickups work on different impedence so for example EMG active pickups should use 25K pot while standard passive pickups should use 500K pots. If you want to upgrade to EMG we recommend you change both pickups. You can get a wiring diagram from EMG or contact our customer service team but we do not have any instruction how to mix active & Passive pickups.
Hi Todd, thanks for your feedback. Now i had better understanding between 25k and 500k. And also on passive / active combination.
And i got some good reference on wiring diagram, only missing info is on capacitor value on master tone knob, any recommendation on that?
So i have decided to go for (60 or 85 )and 81 instead. (Still checking on reviews between 60 and 85).
But i would appreciate if you can drop some comments on neck PU selection.
Have a nice day.
Hi Shahril, Capacitor value depends on your install (active or passive). For active installs the capacitor will come with the components (such as EMG). They use a value of .01mF for EMG. For a passive install you would typically use a .047mF or .022mF (the larger the value the more high end is rolled off). EMG 60 or 85 are both great choices for neck position. We use both. The 85 will sound warmer compared to the 60 because of the Alico V magnets. The 60 uses ceramic magnets and will be brighter sounding (which can be very cool in the neck position since the natural sound of the neck position is warmer than bridge position).
Hi Todd,
Its ok, i got some feedbacks from EMG on this.
Thanks !
Hi Shahril, OK, great to hear that!
Are EMGs compatible with this guitar? I own it and I was just wandering if there is room in the compartment for the 9v.
Hi Cade, Yes EMG's can be installed. But you need to change out all the pots and the jack, so all the wiring has to be replaced. There is enough room in the cavity. You can wrap the battery in foam and put it in with the other controls.
Why were these changed from NT to bolt on?
Hi Dan, many models go through changes over the years. This model has been bolt on in more recent years.
the ltd bridge is the same as a floyd rose special?
Hi Diego, It is not exactly the same. However it works the same. Floyd Rose offers many levels of bridges for manufacturers. The LTD by FR bridge is made by the same factory but is offered for a less expensive price point guitar.
are the tuners locking?????
Hi Nigel, No the tuners are not locking. Since there is a locking nut on this model the strings are locked at the nut so it's not necessary to have locking tuners.
If I was to put emg actives in it what size would I need?
Hi xxEthanxx, there are not different size pickups, just get the standard humbucker, like EMG 81/85 set or 81/60 set. You should have someone with experience do the install so we recommend taking your guitar to a repair shop or music store where they could install the pickups for you.
I have an LTD M100FM, and i can say that for the price is a good guitar, but i really dislike it, i have so much problems whit it, and i just buy it 3 months ago! Im thinking on selling it and buying a better guitar :/
There are no luthiers or a professional in my city, if i want to get it to some luthiers here in Chile i would have to spend like 150 bucks just for shipping and repairing some things. I really think (in my case) its not worth it
Hi Maty, sorry to hear that. There must be someone in your city , if not professional maybe there is someone who is amateur but can help you. The only other suggestion I have is that you learn how to do setup work so that you can adjust your guitar. It makes a big difference. Even a very expensive guitar can feel and play terrible if the setup is not correct.
