Hi, how should I condition Engineered Hardwood fingerboard?

Carl N.

Lemon oil, butcher's block oil, same things you would use to condition any other fingerboards will work fine.

Wyatt S.

Do you have any plans of making this in a white color? If not, I think that would be something that would make this guitar even cooler

Carl N.

Not currently, thanks for the suggestion

Jeremiah T.

This guitar looks really bad to the bone! Hope that y'all are having a good day!!

Jeremiah T.

Is it available in 22 frets?

Carl N.

These will only be available with the specifications shown

Rod P95

Hello! I this beautiful LTD MH-17, if I want to acquire the EMG 707 and 81-7 do I need to buy also the EMG solderless kit? Due the electronic connection this guitar has. Or I just can put the upgrade on this guitar only acquiring the pickups?

Carl N.

You would need all of the electronics replaced in order to replace these pickups with EMGs, if you are unfamiliar with this type of work it would be recommended to have a professional guitar technician perform such a modification to avoid any accidental damage to your instrument.

Rod P95

Thank you Carl! I will acquire the EMG pickups. And let a professional guitar technician perform the modification. Another question, which EMG solderless wiring kit would you recommend for this guitar? To have the materials ready for the installation.

Herra_af_lik

I'm just wondering how balanced this guitar is when standing and playing?

Carl N.

Hey Herra, it balances very well.

Max M.

Is there or can there be a left handed version

Todd B. ESP

Hi Max,

Sorry we do not offer this model in LH version currently.

Grinder Sin

This in a 27 inch scale would be dope AF. I have a first run m17 and my only gripe is the scale length being too short. Amazing guitar for the price at the time. But yeah. This in a 27 inch scale again would be dope AF like some of these folks are saying about the more expensive MH417. I wouldn't need a custom guitar if y'all offered it that way at the m17 retail price. Just saying it could be a "gateway drug" for new players in the extended range market.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Grinder, Thanks for that suggestion.

Velociblue

I had put down music for a while and recently decided to pick it back up.  I had been a 7 string player for years but when i stopped playing finding a used 7 at this price point was unheard of.  So when i saw this one for $200 I figured it was garbage.  But after playing it once i took it straight to the counter and bought it.  Yes the pick ups are not any thing to write home about but if you are a bed room player using a modeling amp or even going strait in a computer for recording they are fine. I only really found a problem with pluging it into a friends loud tube amp, Krank rev to be esact. And honestly the noise im sure could have been fixed via noise gate.  I do plan on swiching them out but thats not on the "have to do list" Bottom line if you are on a budget and want a 7 this is a killer guitar.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Velociblue , Thanks for sharing your comments. Glad to hear this model worked out well for you and thanks for recommending it to other users!

Cooper B.

Could we ever see an 8-string MH on the cheaper side such as this?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Cooper, it's possible but not anything we have planned currently.

Cooper B.

Does this have one or two truss rods?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Cooper, there is one truss rod in this neck. Typically we use 1 truss rod for 6 and 7 string guitars and 2 truss rods for 8 string guitars.

sensei

would this be a good first 7 string guitar?

Todd B. ESP

Hi sensei, Yes this is a good entry level, but if you want something with a better build quality you could try something like our EC-407.

Brian F.

I think it's a great first 7 string guitar. If you are a more experienced player overall, you will probably want something with a bit better pickups. I owned an 8 string with actives (the ltd stephen carpenter model), but the 8 strings were just too much. I later wanted a budget 7 string just to see how I like an extended range guitar since I wasn't a fan of 8 strings. I really love 7 strings, but after owning the m-17 for a year, I upgraded to the EC-407 with EMG's. For the metal I play, actives are just a much better choice. The 17 series is not bad by any means and an amazing guitar for beginners, but consider a pickup swap down the line. Overall the build is incredible for 200 dollars!

Todd B. ESP

Hey Brian, thanks for your great review! glad you like this guitar!

Grinder Sin

It was my first. Now I own 4 seven strings. They are addicting. \m/

I am so confused on this website! Not a single guide for beginners. No information nothing! And where is 2018 catalogue!? Have you cisitev the ibanez and fender websites? I don't even know I live in India and all the models available online in India on Indian websites are totally understand findable on this esp official website! So I ask you guys, what are the most popular beginner esp electric guitars? My budget is 250$ or less. I've never played an electric guitar before. Please state at least 5 models.

Todd B. ESP

Hi August, Your local distributor can tell you what models they carry in your market. Our product website is for the worldwide product line but there may be limited availability in some countries. We recommend that you contact your local distributor to seek help. Our 10 Series is your best choice for beginner guitar (M-10, EC-10, F-10, MH-17). For the fretboard what exactly is engineered hardwood?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Michael, This is an alternative to using rosewood. Over the past 2 years most of our models have changed from rosewood to a different kind of hardwood due to some new regulations regarding import/export of rosewood. This particular wood is engineered or man-made, meaning it is not original wood in its natural form like most other fingerboards we use. It is made of  wood pieces laminated together and engineered to replicate the look and feel and strength of a typical rosewood fingerboard.

Jason C.

I ordered this right iff the website. How long til it gets to me in NY?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Jason, My apologies for replying to your comment so late. Hopefully you have received your guitar. Usually you can contact our sales department if you have any pressing questions about your order. We are in California, so it usually takes a week to ship and a few days to process, so roughly 10-12 days in your case.

Joseph V.

Already had to get the wires inside the output jack soldered. Other than that it holds up really well for the price. I can stay in drop f on the stock strings for at least 2 days before I have to re-tune.

Manny H

I would love to purchase this in satin black, but no dealer carries it as of now, would it be possible to order satin black variant of this through ESP custom shop at the same price? Would like to know since I have been waiting to purchase this guitar. Thank you for your time.

Manny H

If this could come in satin black I would most CERTAINLY purchase.
