I purchased this guitar 6 months ago and it is awesome. The specs say the string gauges are 9,11,16,24,32,42 and 56. This kit doesn’t exist from Elixir. The strings that came on the guitar are 9,11,16,26,36,46 and 56. This kit doesn’t exist either. I put the .009-.052 on it without knowing this and the trem is way leaned back. That’s when I measured the strings that came on it. Could there have been a manufacturing error? This in an open box from Sam Ash but they claim it was never even played let alone the strings gauge altered. But who knows?

This should come equipped with the strings listed in our specifications though it is possible these could have been changed before it reached you.  If you need any further assistance you can reach our customer service team at customerservice@espguitars.com

I’m curious as why this is more expensive than the neck thru E-II version. I always thought neck thru were always more costly to make? And also looking at LTD models neck thru’s usually cost more than the set thru

Carl N.

The quilted maple elevates the cost of this model, I believe the other one you are referencing is solid black, with no figured top.

Sigrist C.

Insta buy if it was in 6 strings :( it s so difficult to find beautifull blue on guitar

Pedro R.

I would like to see this with 6 strings.

Carl N.

thanks for the insight

Hey Tony i also ordered mine threw zzounds, it took  2 1/2 months to receive mine. Just hang in there, and bug them every once in a while, and you'll have it before you know it. It's will worth the wait. I can't put mine down it's absolutely stunning ....

Tony J.

I've ordered this guitar through Zzounds.  Currently they are on back order.  Any idea when these beauties will be shipping to America?

Carl N.

Probably after the quarantine

Claus L.

Is the truss rod double action or single action?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Claus, Our truss rod is double action so it will adjust in 2 directions.

Claus L.

Are the frets Nikkel/Silver or stainless steel?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Claus, Yes they are nickel silver. That is what we use for everything unless noted otherwise.

Vadim Ketivo

I wish you guys had a larger variety of options for this model. Would buy one with pleasure if it featured an Evertune instead!

Carl N.

Thanks for the insight!

Just bought this guitar, my first new guitar this century! I love my old guitars a lot but I've been hankering after a 7 string for a while but a Benedetto is simply out of my price range so had been looking at solid body alternatives and this seemed about the best going. Well it looks beautiful, I mean REALLY beautiful and feels surprisingly comfortable in that it isn't too heavy in the body and is not head heavy which could be an issue with a 7 string. The sound is fine, in that it has pretty clear tones for an active pick-up design. The neck PU is the one I'll probably be using most as it sounded right within the first minute of playing. I'm still getting used to the Floyd Rose (very wobbly when compared to a 'Fender Plus/Hipshot' trem which I'm used to) so I see it as a slight challenge to master rather than a thing to change. I do get the 'Metal' thing that seems to be the main purpose for a lot of 7 string guitar but these days I'm foremost a Jazz player and YES, this guitar can certainly produce some lovely clean music. Well done, you fabulous ESP people.

Carl N.

Thanks for the kind words Gordon!  Glad you're enjoying it!

Frank Thoms

I am still in the Studio with this guitar. The Horizon FR-7 works very well and the Sound is amazing. :-)

Carl N.

Thanks for sharing Frank!

Daniel C.

Do y’all know if this guitar will still be available in 2020?

Carl N.

Hey Daniel, it's 2020 and we are still producing this model

Rahtchee

had this guitar for lil over a 2 months. Let me just say. This guitar performs very well.  Its fast, has killer sound and stays in tune. Plus, it looks killer on stage.  This guitar kicks ass.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Rahtchee, Thanks for sharing that. Looks great!

Dave Sevenstrings

Had this guitar for about 8 months now, Plays killer but now seems to be a dead spot developing at the 5th fret. Gonna have to bring in to pro to see if the frets are lifting or whats causing the issue. Shouldn't really be having that happen with something so new. (My other ESP guitars in the same room still play flawlessly)

All in all still a fantastic guitar and was worth the 2 month wait to receive it. Those who plan to use this strictly for metal may want to swap the stock pickup to an EMG81 or equivalent. The stock one is more suited to all around play, and sounds great if you plan to do clean guitar parts. Any body who is on the fence about this guitar should go for it. You will love it.

Todd B. ESP

Hey Dave,  Thanks for sharing your comments here and thank you for giving this guitar a good review. Hope you are able to figure out the dead spots. Could be related to a few things, so that's a good idea to take it to a pro builder or repair person to have it evaluated. I've seen things like this develop from changes in the neck bow, fret wear, string wear. Great to hear your suggestion on the pickups. The classic EMG 81 is always great for pure metal tones while the newer 57/66 sets will appeal to both metal / rock and clean tones.

I am so in love with the finish that I've almost ordered this guitar twice. I'm just not a fan of Floyd Rose Bridges. Any chance of this finish ending up on an e2 Eclipse model? Hell, I'd even take an e2 horizon in this finish and without the Floyd.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Christopher, Thanks for letting us know what you're looking for. It's certainly possible that we may offer a different model in this color but not currently. However we take all our customer feedback and use it so thanks again for your suggestions.

CountGore

Just got mine today. Really beautiful guitar. But on the right horn there is a discolor in the binding. It's seems like it's a dark brown  grain in the wood, but it's really noticable. Is that supposed  to be there?

The binding looks like bright maple with clear coat/finish. The guitar was sealed from the factory when i got it.

Todd B. ESP

Hi CountGore, Yes that is natural wood grain. It is normal to have grain such as this show up when there is no color over the wood.

Rahtchee

I jus just got mine.  And man let me just say this guitar is incredible.  Plays so good and is fast af. Only grip I have is there is a line down the middle of the body.  Where they joined the body together.  Is this typical on all these models or is it just the one I have?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Rahtchee , Thanks for your comments and review. Glad to hear you like the guitar. Yes it is common for the glue lines to show on guitars. Whenever 2 or more pieces of wood are joined together and glued and painted over, every material is susceptible to changing temperature and humidity, etc. So it is normal to see the wood grain or joint lines under the paint. It's not anything to be worried about.

Rahtchee

Thank you.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Rahtchee, You're welcome. Thanks for your comments and questions.

Raveeh

Hey! E-II guitars are truly some of the most beautiful guitars with prettymuch the highest quality on the planet. But theres something missing! More and more manufacturers are starting to use stainless steel frets on their higher end guitars. They are just superior since their fretjob lasts far longer than nickel could imagine. Is E-II line ever going to see the upgrade to them?

Todd B. ESP

HI Raveeh, Thanks for your comments. It's quite possible certainly and I appreciate you bringing this up.

Rahtchee

Hello. I am thinking of buying this beautiful guitar through sweetwater.  They  offer free setup and tuning of any guitar above $299. So, my question is.

Do you guys trust sweetwater to setup a guitar such as the fr7 or should I just bring it to my local guy whom I already trust.

Thanks, richy.

Nathan M.

I've bought two guitars from Sweetwater and paid for the Plek setup on both. From those two, it was totally worth it. It's amazing being able to just play a FR guitar right out of the box without dealing with a re-string/setup. That said, I don't think I'd PAY for a setup from them without the Plek treatment. Any of the Korean/USA/Japanese ESP play amazing right from the factory. The value would be if you wanted a different gauge string (or Plek).

Free is free though. Go for it!

Todd B. ESP

Thanks for your input Nathan! Glad to hear about your experience.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Rahtchee, First of all sorry for this late reply. I see from another user's comment that Sweetwater does an excellent setup job. I would absolutely trust Sweetwater to perform a setup on your instrument. They have great service techs at their facility so it's a great service they offer.

Rahtchee

Thanks to you both. I appreciate the input.

Todd B. ESP

You're welcome.

Oscar G.

I placed an order on one of these back in February and have been checking up on the status of the order multiple times and the shipping date always gets pushed back every time. Last time I checked I was told mine would ship on the 29th of April but every single time I was told it would ship around a certain day it always gets pushed back. When I check back on the day of or around to confirm. Are distributors not receiving enough supply of these?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Oscar, Thanks for posting your issue here. The E-II models have been on backorder especially for the new models. Please let me know what dealer and distributor you placed your order through so I can look into it for you. You can send me a private message. Thanks and hang in there, hopefully your guitar will get to you soon.
