Hey there legends I have two of these awesome guitars I am looking at upgrading the bridge and tailpiece to a hipshot Tone-a-matic but I'm not smart enough to work out whether it will fit in without modification. would someone be able to help me by either providing me with the exact model number of the Tone Pros bridge that comes stock with this guitar or just doing the maths for me completely? would be so grateful! I've attached the hipshot specs but I can't find solid info on the model number of the current bridge!
thanks, lords

Hey guys, is the fretboard Macassar Ebony or Pau Ferro, because here on ESP website you say its Ebony but Thomann says its Pau Ferro and I also saw some pictures on forums and the fretboard is reddish. Will production will change for 2023? Ps. Pau Ferro looks really bad. Thx!

Do you still make this in lefty. Looking for a lighter option than my damien platinum 7 that weighs like 15 pounds.

OrangePineJuice

Why the hell would you string it with 13s if you didn't want to play Cannibal Corpse? Why doesn't it come stock with like 9.5s or 10s?

Todd B. ESP

Hi, this guitar uses a 6 string  Baritone tuning (B-E-A-D-F#-B), that is the reason for the heavier strings.

Brandon G.

Are you dumb? This is a 6-string baritone basically made for extreme metal. You would you even buy this if you're gonna put baby strings on it?

OrangePineJuice

Please forgive me, I was young and dumb. I have matured since then. I also need 11-52s for Eb standard now, so I might genuinely want one of these now anyway : p

lee l.

If a Baritone came with 9.5 strings One you couldn’t even play hardly anything on it cause they’d be flopping around in a breeze. Why would you play the string like I don’t know I I like to pick like I’m getting paid. She want nine strings go go play under stepdaddy‘s acoustic guitar

Bryan S.

Does the guitar come in a case when you order it?

Carl N.

our specs list no case included

Bryan S.

When is this estimated to ship?

I am looking at buying one these right. Can you tell me the neck specifications? I want to know the neck thickness at the 1st fret and 12 fret.

Carl N.

20-22mm hope this helps

Myles H.

Why is there not a Pepper Keenan Signature Viper? You good fuckers at ESP should get him on your roster......

Carl N.

Thanks for the insight Myles!

Justin D.

I got the pleasure of playing an E-ll Viper baritone today and it was fantastic but its a bit out of my price range  the ltd viper-400b looks to hit most of the marks the of its E-ll counter part but the issue for me lies in the emg pickups they just don't seem to have the right feel outside of the nasty dirty tone we all know and love the, cleans left a lot to be desired for myself would it be more beneficial to just go for the viper-201b and mod it to spec?

Carl N.

Hey Justin, this would all depend on you.  If you were going to mod the instrument anyway might as well go with the one that feels better for you.  I'd check out both the 201 and 400 and see which one suits you more.

g3wdvibes

Waiting for the return of the V I P E R 407!!! Put some  707s on them!!!!! HARD!~!!

Carl N.

Hey g3wdvibes, might be waiting for a bit, we did just update the Viper Black Metal this year to be a 27" baritone scale seven string.

Hekate's flame

How well do the Viper and the Eclipse guitars stay in-tune with the standard configuration (TOM bridge and Grover tuners)?

Carl N.

Hey Hekate, a properly setup instrument should keep its' tuning for a while.  Though different player's styles can affect this.

MRC

Hi!

Just a quick question. Are there more types of VB-400 out?

This one's supposed to be a VB-400 but is doesn't have the position markers on the neck as the ones do on this site's pictures.

The back of the head doesn't look like the ones I can see on this site either.

Thanks!

Todd B. ESP

Hi MRC, That looks like an older model. In the past we have made VB-300, VB-400 and VB-401. That is over the past 15-20 years or so. The one on our site is the current version we offer, which would be similar in build to the VB-400 and VB-401.

g3wdvibes

haha you got the OG one as well, I think this model looks way harder

Marcus F.

I’m not opposed to buying a Baritone, but can you tune them to EADGBE or is just for low tunings ?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Marcus, We ship them with low tuning (B-E-A-D-F#-B). The purpose of a baritone scale is to increase the tension needed for lower tunings. Yes, you could set up the guitar to use standard strings and standard tuning but it would require some work to get it there. You'd be better off using a standard scale length Viper for that. The baritone scale works best for tunings dropped down a fifth from normal tunings, or even a little lower.

Which bridge is on this one again? Mine broke and had to replace the bridge but want the bridge that came with this one again. What’s the model number of the bridge?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Onyx, This is a tune-o-matic bridge with large posts. It's a fairly standard part. It's not available for sale from us, but you can purchase an identical or similar bridge that works from any major parts company such as Allparts, WD Music or Tonepros, etc. If you need further assistance please contact our customer service team at customerservice@espguitars.com

Joseph T.

I was at the Cosmo Music Fest last weekend and was told by a sales rep you have left handed Vipers available now. How would I find one?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Joseph, We do not carry everything in left handed, however we usually list it as an available model on our site. The best thing to do is call our sales department during the week and they can let you know if there are any other available models. It's possible that there will be a new LH version added to our site in the next few months.

0nyx

Please in the future put out this same guitar again but with a different color way. Like the see through gray gloss finish

Todd B. ESP

Hi Onyx, Thanks for that suggestion. Are you referring to the See Thru Black with a flame maple top?

0nyx

Yes that one but baritone. Not a fan of satin finishes at all

Todd B. ESP

Ok thanks Onyx.

mark b.

To my surprise, on the first string change, I could not fit a 72 gauge string into the factory tuning machine hole. Had to settle for a 68 gauge.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Mark, most manufacturers that make tuning keys do not drill the holes out large enough to install a .70 or larger string. I would recommend drilling out the post to fit the size you need.

mark b.

Do you know the dimensions for the pocket on this guitar, im looking to have a humbucker made for it. Thank you!

Todd B. ESP

Hi Mark, sorry that is not info I can provide you here, but we use a standard humbucker route like most manufacturers do. you should not have to make any modifications to put a different pickup in.
