ECLIPSE NT '87
ECLIPSE NT '87
TURQUOISE
While ESP first got started in 1975 as a small repair shop in Tokyo, it was really toward the mid ‘80s when our guitars and basses grabbed the attention of players around the world. The LTD ’87 Series are faithful recreations of this set of instruments from ESP’s 1987 catalog. Unlike the current single-cutaway Eclipse shape, the original ESP Eclipse was based on the TE archtop shape, which is the basis of the LTD Eclipse ’87. This guitar offers neck-thru-body construction with a mahogany body and three-piece maple neck. The ’87 Series Eclipse models offer a set of Seymour Duncan ’59 (neck) and JB (bridge) pickup set (with original style bobbins and a push-pull control to split the coils), and a TonePros locking TOM bridge and tailpiece.
@Acclaimed Knives In the unboxing video I shared, I'm playing in drop C, and it sounds and plays amazing! No issues whatsoever. And I have a Floyd Rose float set up video coming tomorrow! I switch out the 9's for 11's, and drop it to drop C! Just search my name on Youtube and you'll find the video tomorrow afternoon!
@Acclaimed Knives Thanks man! I just noticed that the Eclipse '87 NT we're talking about here, has a fixed bridge and not a Floyd Rose. So you'll be totally fine changing tuning with ease. The stock strings might feel a little light in Drop C, but you can definitely get away with it. You'll have to give it a try and see how it feels! Personally, I like 11-52 gauge strings for drop C, and I think they're fine for any tuning, including E. But I understand that you just want to rock the guitar right out of the box, and so yes, I think you'll be fine!
Hi, Yes this guitar could be setup in Drop C. I agree with Rob here. Probably changing strings to 11-52 would be a good starting point. You'll need to readjust the truss rod and action when you make this type of change. We recommend taking it to a good setup or repair person if you are not familiar with this type of work.
