I attended a concert of the band Evanescence and noticed that the new guitarist Tom Mc was with an EC-1000 EMG vintage black with fillets in red.

Do you have this guitar in your catalog or is it a special one made for the band's guitarist?

Love this guitar. Plays like a dream. Well worth the investment. 

Just 2 days ago I got a used EC1000 Vintage Black from Guitar Center. As soon as I played it, I knew I was taking it home. I've been playing Jackson Guitars for over 30 years and to play this guitar....it's definitely a keeper. Normally, I do not get guitars without a tremolo system, but because this guitar sounded great with EMG pickups, locking tuners and the guitar neck is so flawless....playing lead guitar was a breeze. Mine says it was made in Korea and I found a serial number decoder online which says the guitar was made in the year 2000. Now I'll just spend my money on ESP LTD guitars.

Had it for a month now, time for a review.

THE GOOD: It's an EC-1000, if you know its name you know its reputation. Consistently reviews at 5 stars, it's the sound of metal. Incredibly quick neck, the fastest I've ever played. Don't need splitcoils for a recordable clean tone, just need the right speaker/IR and a light touch. Weighs close to nothing. Frets are perfect, I repeat: THE FRETS ARE PERFECT. No issues with tuning stability whatsoever and most importantly, it sounds exactly like you expect it to.

THE BAD: Bridge saddles not notched at factory. Just six strings sitting on top of bridge saddles, I'm completely serious. I hope this isn't an intentional design choice because if it is, it's a horrible one. Lucky I own a set of files and was able to do the job myself. For most players this would have warranted a return. Plastic nut at this price bracket is a joke, replaced with Graphtec Black TUSQ XL, which is what the guitar should come with from the factory.

 Is the guitar good? Absolutely. Is it okay to pay AUD1900 for an axe that's literally incomplete? No. Is it better than my Epi LP Custom Pro with Black Winters? Not really, certainly not AUD450 better. At the end of the day, I'll be keeping it because as an Australian left-handed person, my options are pretty limited when shopping for a guitar that has 24.75" scale and EMGs, and you can't do a respectable 'Tallica cover without EMGs.

Whoa…I got this model new from Sweetwater this week and literally played it 10 hrs in three days.  It’s incredible the level of guitar you can get for $1100.  The EMG pickups are smokin HOT!  That U shaped neck is the most comfortable I’ve ever played with easy access to everything.  Stainless steel frets bend smoother than nickel.  It’s kinda a grittier Les Paul built for sin.  Definitely to want graduate to an E2 model next year.  If you are on the fence seriously just buy one!ESP ROCKS! And thank you Korea!

Just picked up a vintage black version of this guitar and I have to say I could not be happier. The guitar plays brilliantly and sounds fantastic, and it also is a beauty and inspires me to pick it up and give it a go every day.

The neck is a bit fatter than the thin neck I am used to on my Ibanez, but it plays fast and smooth. Upper fret access is good, even with smaller hands like mine. I love the fact that it has 24 frets.

The guitar also came set up well, though I did lower the action a bit to play faster.

The EMG pickups deliver clean, strong tone that sounds equally good playing clean as well as super distorted. Lead is an absolute joy to play — the notes sustain like a mofo!

Whoever recommended this guitar for anyone who wants a $1000 axe that plays and sounds like a $5000 axe is right on the money. 

This was my first ESP / LTD and certainly won’t be my last.

If you’re on the fence about getting this, do yourself a favor and just get it.

Had mine for about 3 years and is hands down the best guitar I have ever owned. Traded another LTD guitar at a music store for it and couldn't be happier. Very versatile, dependable and never looses tune unless changing environments with different humidity levels than my home. If you are looking for a guitar that plays like a $5000 guitar for $1000, I would definitely get one of these. Better than any Les Paul I have ever owned or played. Keep up the good work ESP. I own 3 of your guitars and they're hard to beat.

Got one of these a few months ago from my local shop. They had to special order it and it came in a few weeks later. They took the time to set it up and handed it over. There were quite a few flaws in the guitar. Rough frets, a chipped and filled inlay and uneven banding. Play wise it was much worse. Heavy buzzing everywhere on the fret board primarily on the A string, and the action was much higher than your usual esp. I took it back and they changed out the string and tweaked it again. Again still buzzing everywhere. I checked the frets for level and they were all over the place. Brought it back and they explained "that's just how it is" and tried to blame the buzz on my playing. I own 2 Korean made LTD's from early 2000'sthat play with much lower action and don't play like this.

They ended up refunding be because, in their words, couldn't make me happy. There is no reason a guitar of this price should have been in such poor playability at factory specs. This is one of my dream guitars, and the whole process was a nightmare. Quality seems to have really gone down with the ltd line now that they are in Indonesia.

I just recieved mine 3 days ago! It's an amazing quitar. Great build guality, great sound, perfect neck for fast playing...

But I have one guestion: Mine is made in Korea. There is no split coil pull switch  (!) . Why?

Hi all. i just bought a 2nd hand ec1000vb. I need to replace 1 and/or all locking tuners. can someone suggest anything. I found a possible option but I am not sure (Schaller M6 Pin Locking 3L3R Gold)

I've had this guitar for 10 years and it's still amazing to this day. Out of all my guitars this is my baby. I feel like this is one of the few guitars ESP has been producing the longest consecutively so its sucess is guaranteed (there are even two different pickup versions). That being said will you please make a version with a gold evertune bridge and a gold fishmans so you can take my money. Make a EC-1000VB ET please! 

Hi, when did these start being made in Indonesia? I see some were made in Korea on the head stock and some Indonesia?

I tried once one ec-1000 vb (with duncan magnets) and I loved it! I wanted EMG magnets - not i stock - so I ordered one last September from my local store here at Athens Greece.

The problem is that although 2021 is leaving , we still don't know when my guitar will be here...
