I have played Gibson for a long time , also played Fender . Never really thought of ESP , a good friend of mine told me I should check them out , got a LTD ec1000, satin black . I can’t put it down , getting rid of my Gibson V and getting another LTD. won’t play anything else . These guitars just feel right , perfect weight and neck is so nice to play . I’m hooked .

Absolutely love this guitar. Had mine for over a year, and it’s still in beauty shape. Intonation, neck are all perfect.

I have a question, what kind of nut would I use to replace this? I hear about Fender style and Gibson and LP style…. What style of nut am I looking for?

Darrell D.

Too bad the gloss black with pearl inlays only comes with Active pickups. I think all ec1000s should be purchased with either duncans or EMGs. Would have a lot more buyers. Thats the only reason I havent purchased the gloss black, would have to change pickups $$$$$

  • Superb guitar.
  • The fit and finish is just perfect.
  • The Ebony fingerboard with the fat frets are a dream to play.
  • The EMG's growl like a stack of Marshalls.
  • The neck is superb handles and feels like a Stratocaster.
  • The Mahogany body is ergonomically sculptured for your body; in 70 years Gibson failed to figure that one out. Maybe that is why they went broke.
  • I have owned many Gibson Les Paul's over the years and I have slowly but surely sold them all because of guitars like this.
  • I am already thinking about buying another one.

I was trained as a physicist and Albert Einstein proved a very important theorem for guitar players the world over:

If the number of guitars you own is X, then what is the optimal number of guitars? Simple he said: + 1!

I have had this guitar for ten years plus!! Absolutely love it. The only I changed about it were pickups. Which on any guitar in any model by any manufacturer, are the thing that can be changed the most.

I made this YT video talking all about it with sound clips

Roman_Playz1

Awesome video ! Just ordered my ec1000 in vintage black today ! Can’t wait

just got this recently.  first esp/ltd i've ever owned.  will not be the last.  it is hard to believe this is a $1k guitar.  plays like a guitar 2-3x the price.  out of the box it was perfectly intonated, even when I changed to 10-52's.  no tuning issues at all.  frets were smooth.  lines are flawless.  weight and balance are perfect.  overall wow!!!  just wow!!!  i'm totally blown away.  I love the look too, kind of a cross between old school with a modern bite.  it's what drew me to this guitar.  just not into all the abalone binding.  plus the emg's are pure sonic mayhem.  some people criticize emg's, but I love them.  looks like the kids are going to be eating mac n cheese for a while.  dad needs another EC!!!

I dont think ESP has created a more popular production, non signature model than this guitar right here. This is the guitar I see every music store the most from ESP.

Todd B. ESP

Hi, yes these are very popular. Good simple combination of specs.

John H.

How can I replace the hardware on mine? I’ve tried contact customer service with no response.

Todd B. ESP

Hi John, If you sent it recently it could be that our offices are closed on the weekends. I will pass this message to them again and ask them to respond to you. Please continue discussion with them.

Greg P.

I love my 1000vb which I've been playing hard for 6 yrs now. I would consider replacing it with the new version to get that contoured neck heel and  SS frets .... but wait...WHY NO SS FRETS???

Todd B. ESP

Hi Greg, Thanks for your comments and suggestions. All the newer models we have released have stainless. For now the older models continue to have the same build, but you will see more and more new models offered with stainless steel frets. Thanks again for letting us know what you are looking for.

Since there's no serial number inscribed on the back of the headstock, how would i know the genuinity of this guitar. How would i know the one I have is an original or duplicate ?

If I had the money I would custom order one with black bindings and black hardware.

Charlie K.

Is this vintage black model ever coming back with the Floyd Rose?  I can't find even a used one anywhere online.

I bought this guitar about a month ago from a third party dealer on Amazon. It plays amazingly, but I'm having a HUGE problem with the metal hardware tarnishing, particularly the bridge and the tuning pegs. My second guitar was an LTD Viper that cost $200, and it took years for the tarnishing to get to the point that my $1000 guitar is at after a month. Is there some sort of protectant that I can coat the metal parts with so that it doesn't tarnish so quickly? It was practically rusting after only a month of ownership; I just noticed and gave it a thorough wipe down, but I'm going to have anxiety every time I play it if I can't find some way to mitigate how quickly the gold coating tarnishes. Even if that can't be officially condoned, just knowing the primary metal in the alloy that the coating is made from would help me immensely. Thank you in advance.

Carl N.

Gold hardware is notorious for oxidizing faster than most other hardware finishes.  The reason hardware tarnishes is due to the sweat and oils your body naturally produces accumulating within the hardware while playing.  Should be common practice nowadays with everything going on in the world but best way to avoid this kind of issue is to wash your hands before playing and to wipe down any sweat or residues left behind after you are done playing.

Jonathan P.

No offense, but that isn't a solution, and it's the first thing anyone would try if, for some reason, they didn't treat their gear with that level of basic respect. You don't buy a midrange guitar without understanding basic etiquette. Even with washing my hands, the results speak for themselves. Can I at least know what the coating is made of? If it's brass, I'll coat it with protectant myself, but I can't do anything without knowing the primary metal in the alloy.

DangerMouse

I bought the Seymour Duncan version of this, AMAZING GUITAR. But yes my only comment would be the gold quickly wearing off where your palm rests.

Daniel Carr

An absolute Stunner in the EC1000 Range, ebony fingerboard, beautiful vintage Satin finish and plays like Buttah! I love all my ECs and this one just bonded with me instantly, l just play it so much! The EMG 81/60 set is so sweet, especially the 60,it's pure Thin Lizzy,Gary Moore, hard Rock,Classic tones and aesthetics. If you are like me,trying to complete your EC Collection( i'm on 6) then this Axe should be the EC Cornerstone to start with. It's an incredible Guitar, with a beautiful, ergonomic shape and award winning design, an Amazing guitar.

Carl N.

Glad you are enjoying them

Shumail K.

Hey, i have a few questions.

1) does it have a maple top?

2) what is the scale length?

3) does it have weight relief? Chambered?

Carl N.

Typically we will list this information within the description and specification if it applies but this instrument will not have a maple top or be chambered.  Scale length is 24.75" hope this helps

Alex H.

Edit:

Through some of my own investigation and via what Customer Service has said:

50mm bridge pole spacing

1/4” leg length

50mm came straight from customer service, and is standard across tuneomatic bridges. 1/4” leg length came from a pickup swap video I found on YouTube, where you can see the leg when the guy removes the pickup.

Carl N.

Thanks!

Frank G.

Does the battery die if you leave it plugged or does it have a kill switch?

Carl N.

inserting an instrument cable into the jack completes the circuit and activates the pickups, leaving this plugged in will drain your battery

Ottavio

Hi, does any one knows if this model is made in Korea or Indonesia?

Carl N.

This will be made in both Korea and Indonesia

Xavier v.

My model is 2014 kora

ANDRII I.

Hi, I noticed that some models of this guitar have a different reported weight. For example, Sweetwater offers 4 models for comparison with respective weights 7lbs 9oz, 9lbs 1oz, 7lbs 5oz, 8lbs 1oz. Is this just a mistake or can the production models actually have a different weight? If so, what difference does it have on the instrument's playability and sound? (noob in the room)

Thanks!

Carl N.

No two guitars will ever be the same, there will always be differences between them, even within the same model.  Weight is one such aspect that fluctuates.

ANDRII I.

Carl N, it makes sense if we talk ounces, but the difference in almost two pounds is quite striking

Carl N.

Our instruments are not regulated by weight so this isn't uncommon.  No two pieces of wood weigh the same so it is possible to see completed instruments weigh differently.

Mario O.

Hello - does this guitar have stainless steel or nickel frets?

Carl N.

We'll note if frets are stainless within the specifications, all others will be nickel/silver
