What does the "DB" mean?
if you have any questions you may reach out to our customer service team at customerservice@espguitars.com or https://www.espguitars.com/pages/support
Probably 'Double bound'.
Double binding
With all black hardware this guitar would be even more beautiful.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Hi,
I bought this guitar since some months and it's a very good guitar to play!
Only "issue" i have a fret buzz on the first lower string E at the first fret... truss rod is well , action of the chords is ok not too low...Strin gauge it's the same than original 10/46
Have you an idea? known problem ?
Thanks
David
Without actually seeing the guitar it would be hard to pinpoint as it could be a myriad of things. First recommendation would be to setup the instrument, if you need further assistance you can contact our service department at customerservice@espguitars.com
Hey David,
same here. I guess nearly all of these models have that issue and it's not done with a simple setup - forget it! I worked at a guitar store and a customers guitar, my own and a guitar from another shop had the exact same problem. The ESP Service here in Germany sucks so bad that after nearly two years, with a broken heart, I decided to give mine back. Nobody from the ESP distribution Germany - Sound Service - was able to fix it. And without replacing the nut (what would be a shame because of the then damaged binding) no 3rd party luthier could help me.
Wasn't expecting that kind of tragedy for nearly 2k. The "reclamation" lasted for 6 month with a lot of "you're the problem, not the guitar".
I was really pissed and because of this experience I will never ever buy an ESP (at least in Germany) again.
It's a shame, otherwise the guitar would be perfect.
Best wishes
Sebastian
Thinking about pulling the trigger on this one. I've heard the neck is similar to a 60s style Gibson Les Paul, not as fat as a 50s. What is the thickness of the body? Is it comparable to a Gibson Les Paul, or thinner? I've had a Les Paul Lite but couldn't get passed the super thin body. Other than that, the guitar looks amazing.
Neck will be a thin u 20-22mm and the body is about 50mm so not a full thickness body
First of all, thank you, Carl. It seems then that the ESP is about 1-inch thinner than a Gibson LP. It also seems the ESP is somewhere between a Les Paul Classic Lite and a Les Paul. If you own this particular guitar, what are your thoughts on it? How does it play? How is the tone? Etc? The guitar below was the old LP that I had to sell during hard times.

Hey guys, does anyone know if new E-II models are going to be announced this year?
Thanks!
Nothing planned at the moment
Hi Todd,
Any plans to release the VB with the full access heel joint or the coil split EMGs? Love the look of the guitar, but it'd be awesome to have these features available in the future versions. Vintage look, modern features.
Thanks!
Hi Steven, You make some great points and I agree with you. However I don't think that we will change this model to set thru heel joint at this time. Split coil EMG's might be used in more models soon. Have you tried the new EMG 57/66 TW set?
Hi, also seriously considering buying as well. But none of the shops around me carry any. If ordered, what are the order lead times for Ontario Canada? Thanks!
Hi EM, You will need to contact your distributor in Canada because we do not ship outside the US. Here is a link to our distributor page: https://www.espguitars.com/locations?categories=intl-distributors
Hi there,
Seriously considering buying this guitar but I am afraid I will have to do it online having never played it. I did however play the "regular" Eclipse e 2 (the one with the EMG 57TW/66TW pickups) and quite liked it. Was wondering what are the differences between the two guitars? I know the pickups are different, but I can't quite understand what difference that actually makes. Would love if any of the pros here can explain that to me, also what are differences are there between the two guitars, and mainly how they affect playability and sound. Thanks!
Hi Alonzo, The only difference are the pickups, the neck joint (SET NECK on this DB one compared to SET THRU on the regular Eclipse with Blue Natural Fade. This Vintage black version has binding on the top and back of body so it has the traditional heel shape. If you are looking for more of a modern and progressive guitar, then I would say go with the one in Blue Natural Fade or any others with the Set Thru heel. If you don't play much past the neck joint area, then it doesn't really matter about the neck joint. THE EMG 57/66-TW pickups are more versatile compared to the 81/60 set (more organic sounding & have the ability to split to single coils). All the other differences are visual like the color and body top and hardware color.
What year did this exact model come out in black and gold? I'm seeing a lot of different years of this guitar which one is this?
Hi Nick, We've been offering this model since 2014.
Hello, It sounds like your neck may need to be adjusted. We recommend you take your instrument to a qualified guitar tech to perform an initial setup. Most likely if your strings are high that means that the neck has "bowed" and may need to be adjusted straighter which will bring the string height lower without adjusting the bridge. If you need more help please contact our customer service team at their email: customerservice@espguitars.com . Or if you live outside the USA contact your dealer or distributor for more help.
Hi,
I am interested in the E-II Eclipse DB Vintage Black, I have searched around the internet and found that some have a flip battery compartment in the back of the guitar while others have to unscrew the backside. Is this because of model difference or just later model of the same guitar? If that is true, what other difference are between the old and newer models?
Great guitar and I have read numerous good reviews about it, consider purchasing it.
Sean
Hi Sean, We use the battery compartment which you are referring to only for models with active pickups. Is it possible that you are looking at photos of the same guitar with passive pickups? IF so, the passive version will not have this flip compartment. If you are looking at photos of the same model with active EMG pickups, then it is possible it is older, but we have been using this flip compartment for the battery for quite some time, maybe 10 years or so, but I don't have an exact date or year as to when we started to use them. There are not any other differences to mention. Anyway hope you get to try one of these some day!
Hi,
I intend to buy a E-II ECLIPSE DB VINTAGE and I would like to know if the fingerboard is made of real ebony or richlite.
Thanks
Tony
Hi Tony, we do not use richlite. This uses real ebony.
OK .
Thank you Todd.
My best.
This is true example of one Eclipse guitar. This is how I imagine guitar when you say Eclipse.
Vintage black, satin, gold hardware, aged color binding.
Hi Esp friends . I would like to know the fabrication´s year of my esp guitars. I have read that the information is on the serial number but i don´t know how to read it. thanks
Hi Juan, Please email our customer service department with some pictures and information of serial number and they can help you. email: customerservice@espguitars.com
I have a 2010 eclipse ii (pls see my profile picture). Where can I purchase screws for the back cavity cover. Thank you!
By the way, the ESP eclipse series is one of the best sounding guitars in my collection. The build quality is top notch, using the best wood and hardware. The weight is so balanced and the frets are done so right! Plays like butter and sustains sooo well!
Hey JH, thanks for posting your comments here and glad to hear how much you like your guitar! Please contact our customer service team. They should be able to direct you to a parts supplier. Here is their email: customerservice@espguitars.com
Is there a version of this guitar with passive Seymour Duncan pickups?
Hi Tommy, Sorry this model is only available with EMGS currently.
Epic Eclipse finish. If you can not decide just choose Vintage Black, gold hardware.... win win.
Hey SAsha, Thanks!
Great guitar. I love every thing about this one. All class man. It's a keeper.
Hey Taylor, Thanks for your comments!
